History
WH Kelly Ltd was first formed by Mr Bill Kelly in 1965. Bill first operated from his home at 5 The Drive, Otumoetai before moving to a commercial premises behind the old Nichols Service Station on the corner of 8th Ave and Cameron Rd in Tauranga. His first employee was Malcolm Gartner. As the business grew Malcolm was quickly promoted to Supervisor and the business moved to 33 Burrows St. In 1978 Malcolm and Terry Gartner took over ownership of the business, with Terry carrying out the administrative duties.
In 1995 Malcolm and Terry had their eyes on retirement. Their son Paul and his wife Ann made a commitment to relocate from Dunedin, to learn and manage the business until eventually taking ownership in 2000. During this time the business out grew its Burrows St premises so Malcolm and Terry purchased BOP Asphalt's old building in 46 Birch Ave, moving there in 1996. In 2008, having experienced rapid growth in the Western Bay area, Paul and Ann purchased land and moved "Kellys" to its current site on Oropi Rd.
